Limitation of bridge’s carrying bearing capacity due to aging and deterioration is a common problem faced by road administration and drivers. Rehabilitation of bridges including strengthening may be applied in order to maintain or upgrade existing bridge parameters. Strengthening of bridges with high modulus prestressed CFRP strips have been the solution for a long time. Reinforced concrete slab bridges can be reinforced with carbon fabrics and concrete beams can be strengthened by carbon strips. In both cases the additional CFRP reinforcement led to an increase of bridge carrying capacity from 50%-150%.
